



In an outstanding performance, the US Men’s National Team (USMNT) defeated Panama by a 5-1 score—total American domination.
The USMNT came out strong initially, controlling the possession and creating chances. The first goal came in the 17th minute when Christian Pulisic scored off a Penalty Kick and found the back of the net. The early lead gave the USMNT the needed confidence to continue pressing forward.
Panama tried to respond quickly, but their efforts were not enough to break the solid USMNT defense. In the 23rd minute, it was Paul Arriola, that doubled the lead. The Panamanian defense was full of frustration and the goals kept coming.
The USMNT continued dominating the game and in the 27th minute, Jesus Ferreira made it 3-0 with a fantastic finish after a great run.
The USMNT kept pushing and right before the half ended, it was Christian Pulisic again with a fantastic penalty kick and gave the 4-0 to team USA. Panamanian fans at Exploria just had to give in to Captain America who had a tremendous brace so far.
In the second half and added 1 more goal to seal the victory. In the 65th minute, Christian Pulisic scored the fifth goal and his hat-trick, putting the dagger into the hopes and dreams of team Panama.
Panama managed to pull one back in the 86th minute with a goal from Anibal Godoy, but it was not enough to turn the game’s tide in their favor. It was total domination by the Americans.
The USMNT’s dominant performance earned them a significant victory that boosted their chances of qualifying for the world cup. The attacking prowess was on full display, and the defense was very strong against a tough Panamanian team.
USMNT coach Gregg Berhalter praised his team’s performance, calling it “We knew we were in a position where the group needed to respond, and when I look at the effort and intensity of the first half and the level that we’re playing, it was really impressive” He also highlighted the defensive effort, as well as the finishing from his attacking players.
The USMNT will face Costa Rica on March 30th at Estadio Nacional in a must-win away game to seal their qualification to Qatar 2022.
