In the first half, Orlando Pride did a great job exploiting Kansas’ backline through the wings. In the 4th minute Bright went on a phenomenal sprint past Kansas City defenders and assisted beautifully to Julie Doyle and the striker put Orlando 1-0 up. It was a Golazo. After Orlando’s goal, Kansas attempted to go on the counter but was met by a solid Pride defense. Erica Tymrak looked solid not just creating attacking plays but also retreating and defending as if it was a regular season match. Bright was bothersome for KC defenders and they had a tough time containing her the whole first half. This was her moment, and she was going to make the best of it. Tactically, the Pride looked promising compared to last year, just how well they have positioned themselves on the pitch and how every single player hustled for the ball. Julie Doyle almost scored a brace after a great sprint through the left flank, she assisted Bright but could not capitalize. In the 39th minute, KC went on the attacking onslaught but was met by a solid Pride backline. The Pride kept control of the tempo of the game, quite comfortably. One minute later, Baxter with a great link-up play with Bright, who went 1v1 with KC’s keeper and barely missed. With all the chances in the last 5 mins, the Pride should’ve ended the half up 3-0.

In the second half, Thaiss Reiss subbed in for the Pride. She wore number 30. The former UNF product followed Seb Hines tactical orders to apply pressure on KC’s mid. It was all around clever tactics by the Pride. Ally Watt was subbed in for the Pride, and Bright (that had a great first half) subbed out. In the 63′ minute, Watt scored the 2-0 result for the Pride, she was assisted by Summer Yates. Right after that, KC went on another attacking onslaught but again was met by Emily Madril (former FSU) who was solid for the Pride’s backline throughout the whole game. The match after Orlando’s second goal, became a bit choppy and many subs came in and out. We saw the comeback of Plummer and also the debut of Cosme. Orlando Pride defeated Kansas City at Exploria Stadium by 2 goals to nil. It’s the dawn of a new era for the Orlando Pride. Until next time.
