In the first half, it was total domination by the Orlando Pride. Seb Hines’ side, had Marta on fire the whole first half. The Brazilian Icon created tons of attacking chances for Messiah Bright and Erica Tymrak. Also, the Pride generated several set-piece chances that they could not convert. Despite that, in the 21st minute, Messiah Bright with a beautiful header gave the lead to the Pride. Lund was not able to stop the powerful header from the Orlando striker. The goal came thanks to Kylie Strom that had a beautiful cross perfectly curved to Messiah. It was 1-0 Orlando. After the goal, the Orlando Pride stayed compact and the defense was spot on neutralizing Louisville’s chances in attack. Adriana this first half was on fire. Creating and disrupting Louisville’s lineup but the Pride is not able to convert those chances. In the 30th minute, Messiah Bright had another chance, and Katie Lund came up big time for Louisville,
In the second half, The Pride came out on the attacking onslaught but was met by a solid Louisville backline. Louisville made two substitutions but offensively they were ineffective. In the 57′ minute, Marta had a shot from a distance that went wide. After that, Louisville started to gain momentum and created several chances. Wang Shuang and Chidiac had a couple of opportunities but the Pride’s defense was very solid containing them. In the 80th minute, Kerry Abello came close to scoring with a great shot from a distance but Lund came up big again to save Louisville. Orlando Pride was able to hold off the win and got two solid back-to-back wins. They are only one goal away from playoff contention.
Orlando Pride will travel to Washington Wednesday, May 10th to face the Spirit.
