Orlando City had a debt with their fanbase after their draw at home vs. Inter Miami. They faced a very good Montreal Impact team that had been a pain to face in the past. In the first half, Orlando attempted to create chances through their flanks but they were met by Choiniere and Guillard that did a great job containing Rafa Santos, Ivan Angulo and Facundo Torres. Orlando City kept passing the ball and dominated possession throughout the first but were not able to generate any danger. But, in the 19th minute, the deadlock broke, Facundo Torres shot the ball and Sirois scored an own goal since the ball bounced from his head. Facundo was assisted by a wonderful cross from Rafael Santos. The half ended with Orlando dominating all attacking chances and with the feeling that they could’ve ended the half with a higher scoring margin.
In the second half, Orlando City came out on the onslaught and was able to score two goals on Montreal. It was an amazing display of attacking prowess, finally everything clicked and worked. Orlando’s wingbacks were unstoppable for Montreal and Rafael Santos momentum grew tremendously. In one of those transition plays, Santos threw a clinical cross to Dagur Dan and the Iceland International scored a banger. 4 minutes later, after a beautiful play in transition by Ivan Angulo, Facundo Torres scored the 3-0 score and it was complete utter domination by the Lions. After the third goal, Orlando City dominated the whole game. Oscar Pareja made some substitutions and the lions controlled the pace and had this win under the bag.
